| Xenotransplantation: |
the term used to describe
the transplantation of cells, tissues or whole organs from one species
to another; for example, from pigs to baboons or from pigs to humans. |
| APAAX is an international alliance of
diverse groups, associations and individuals, who are opposed to the
use of animal organs, tissues and cells for transplantation into humans,
a process commonly known as xenotransplantation. |
APAAX believes that xenotransplantation
(XT) represents a dangerous and unethical development in medical therapy
and that it is being promoted ahead of safer, cheaper and more reliable
alternatives. |
